OK,
I need your help out there....Does anyone know what kind of spider this is?
I know it is not the most clear picture, but it is the best I could get. It is a tiny little guy, maybe I should have measured it, but it is probably less than a quarter inch with the legs, but a little longer if you stretch it out.
I keep finding these and I want to know if they are dangerous. I have been gathering all sorts of natural stuff that is suppose to deter spiders, but I do not yet know what works for sure.
I want to use natural stuff because I do not want to poison my kids of course LOL!
Does anyone know what this is? What kinds of tricks do you use to get rid of pests around your house or property? The more natural the better. I am getting ready to try cotton balls soaked in peppermint.
I am going to tuck those into the corners of the rooms behind furniture etc. The other thing I heard is that they do not like lavender, so I was thinking of making some pantyhose sachets filled with some sort of lavender. Do you have any ideas?

I have no clue what type that is but ewwww. Maybe you could do a search on spiders in your area and see if you can find out what that is.
I have done a little searching,,, but have not found an exact match yet. That sucker crawled out from under a blanket that was laying on the floor in my laundry room. I was picking it up to throw it in the wash,,almost made me scream out loud lol!
I am going to keep looking to try and identify it though.
That is the sort of spider my family has always called a "BBU" -- Big, Black (or Brown) and Ugly! We have always let the daddy longlegs off easy, but any BBUs get killed. This website says, "The only dangerous spiders in Ohio are the black widow spider, brown recluse spider and tarantula (sold as pets)." We know yours isn't a widow or a tarantula, and it doesn't look like a recluse, either. So probably not deadly; but based on your family's individual sensitivities, it could cause a painful welt if accidentally crushed and it bit you.
As for prevention, I have no idea. I'm still battling my own regular BBU visits.
Thank you so much ICG! I looked on that site,, ICK,, and I think it might be that funnel spider one. I try not to smoosh them too much so that I can identify them, but they do not want to die easily LOL..
I find several varieties around here, but that one I showed is the most common...I agree with your families name for them or ANY spider. Daddy long legs get a pass if they are outside, but any insect that comes inside is toast if I find it LOL
I do not know if the peppermint lavendar sachets deter the spiders or not, but they have made my girls' room smell great! yum!
still working on this one for ya
You might try this site. http://www.whatsthatbug.com/
I'll warn you there are some nasty looking bugs on there..lol. If you scroll down on the left side there are several pages of different spiders. Hope it helps.
Kateedyd.... Thank you for trying to help!
Jen,,Thank you.. I think I will look tomorrow... after looking at the links the other gals sent me last night , it did not help me have sweet dreams LOL YUCK!
