High Fructose Corn Syrup

Have you seen these new commercials for High Fructose Corn Syrup? I think the commercials are made by a group of corn growers. The commercial goes on to make fun of people that are leery of eating foods with HFCS in them. The commercial states that HFCS is made from corn, so it is ok in moderation just like anything else.

This kind of half truth marketing kills me. While I do agree that almost anything is ok in moderation, they try and imply that HFCS is just like sugar, which it is not. Well it is made from corn, so doesn't that make it a vegetable? I wish that was the case, but it most certainly is NOT!

When you consume regular sugar, your body can eventually tell you that it has had enough. High Fructose Corn Syrup on the other hand does just the opposite. It messes with the hormones that regulate our feelings of hunger and fullness. It can even make you feel MORE hungry. That is one of the reasons that snacking adds to more snacking.
