This past spring my husband was lucky enough to get to go to Houma, Louisiana to help the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He went with his college on what they called an "Alternative Spring Break". The students traveled down there and stayed for about a week. My husband and others got to put their knowledge and building skills to use helping rebuild houses for local residents. They work in cooperation with an organization called Presbyterian Disaster Relief.
I had never heard of Houma before this trip, and now we hear they are in danger once again. My husband is thinking of all the nice people he met while he was down there, and hoping they are weathering this storm safely. For all the people that he met, and all the people we will never meet, you are in our prayers.
BE SAFE!
