A Holiday Cooking Safety Reminder

As we all get ready to cook our holiday turkeys, hams, geese, whatever, don't forget this this little gem of cooking wisdom...

DON'T OPEN THE TIN FOIL, OR LID IN YOUR DIRECTION!

I almost got myself a few minutes ago while making a roast for dinner. I don't know how many times I have opened a foil covered pan, or taken the lid off a pot and blasted myself with hot steam. It is one of those things that we all know NOT to do, and yet I manage to do it at least once a year for good measure! LOL

So learn from my mistakes and be careful in the kitchen, this time of year or any time.

Other things you should not do.... (that I also do once in awhile for fun ,,haha)

* Don't touch a hot pan or pot without a pot holder

* Don't leave paper too close to the stove ( or paper bags KT!! aha)

* Don't forget to set the timer,, no you won't remember otherwise

* Don't forget to locate any rugrats before moving something hot across the kitchen

* Don't leave plastic items in front of the oven vent, bowls, spatulas, etc, they aren't much good after they melt!

* Don't leave the toaster plugged in,,,why? because technically it is a fire hazard, and it just generally drives me nuts. While you are at it, wipe those toast crumbs off the counter, that is just gross!

On a related note though, that oven vent comes in handy for melting sticks of butter for baking, JUST DON'T FORGET YOU PUT IT THERE, or you will have a huge mess!

HAVE A HAPPY, SAFE TURKEY DAY!
