Dominos..Better Late Than Never,,I Guess
We called our local Dominoes and ordered our feast. The guy on the phone was very nice and figured out the best coupon for me to use to get the best deal. He said that it should be about 45 minutes for delivery, and it was. The only problem is that they forgot half our order. The driver said the store was already making fresh replacements for him to go back and get, so that he would not be bringing us "old" pizza. I said ok that stuff happens, the driver said that I was suppose to call in and get a price adjustment for our trouble. For some reason I felt bad for the driver and gave him his tip.
The guy at the store offered to cut our bill in half and note on the computer that we get a free large pizza the next time we ordered. I really do understand that this stuff happens so I thanked him for adjusting the bill and making fresh pizzas. He said the pizza were almost out of the oven and would be her ASAP.
ANOTHER 45 minutes later we call back,, umm the driver is not here yet? No he is not,, already long story shorter,,, our order tonight ended up being FREE and we still get the large next time. I hope the new drivers will have figured things out by the next time we order LOL, but I really appreciate it when a company admits fault and just takes care of it instead of treating you like YOU did something wrong so I thought I would share with you all how this company did right by my family.

Safe Haven in Nebraska
One man took 9 of his 10 children (his oldest daughter is 18) to Creighton University Medical Center's emergency room on Wednesday night. He said that his wife of 17 years died earlier this year. He had quit his job to try and take care of his family, but then there was no financial means of support. This poor man was distraught and at the end of his emotional rope. He turned to what he must have thought was the last option he had for his children. I cannot imagine that this was an easy decision.
This law is presented as a way for parents to turn there kids over to a safe authority without fear of prosecution. What they did not tell people is that it is not free from PERSECUTION. This loving father did something that is unimaginable to most people. It had to have taken a great deal of strength and bravery, and what does this man get in return.... public ridicule.
If this man wanted to be selfish he could have ignored the needs of his children and just been a bad father. He chose to face possible bad reaction from his family and the public and get "safe haven" for his children. The media keeps using the phrase "abandoned", publishing his name ( I will not use his name, out of principle), and virtually announcing the situation to the peers of these children. What a horrible thing for the media and the powers that be in this situation to do. Now not only is this family going through this horrible personal crisis, it has to be played out in public. If this was abandonment, you would have found the children alone at home without food, or in the middle of timbuktu.
An article I read said that the law was designed to protect infants. Well that is wonderful, but what is less important about that safety of an older child. Isn't it better for someone at the end of there nerves or emotions, or whatever to do something like this than some of the other horrible things you hear in the news?!
You have women drowning their kids because they just didn't want to be a mom anymore, or as with this poor little Callee Anthony. Lord knows what has happened to her. There have been many reports that Casey Anthony did not want to have the little girl in the first place, and that Casey was jealous of the relationship her mother had with her daughter. Wouldn't it have been so much better if she would have had the sanity to walk away, or turn her little girl over to someone? Why is it better to be known as the woman who killed her kid than the woman who walked away?
Now her case is not like this man,, but at least once a year it seems you hear a story of mom or dad that was stressed out because of money, or whatever and they kill themselves and their whole family. Is Safe Haven not exactly what these families needed? It takes a brave, loving person to turn your kids over to someone else in hopes they will be taken care of. A coward does nothing and lets the kids suffer in neglect, poverty or starvation.
Isn't a child of ANY age worth saving?!

You pick which expert you agree with the most for each topic, and at the end it tells you which candidate you match up with the best.

Paul Newman Passes Away at 83
Paul Newman was well known as an actor, a race car driver, and a philanthropist to boot. I think few people make their mark on the world the was Mr. Newman did. He always seemed so together, confident, and gracious. he believed in sharing the blessings in his life with others. His Newman's Own line of salad dressings and other food products has donated a great deal of money to charity over the years. I have always thought that it was awesome the way he ran that company and gave the profits away. Generosity like that usually comes back to you in some way.

In any interview I have seen or read about him, he always seemed happy with his family and his life. I am sure he will be greatly missed by his family and the world as a whole. Newman is survived by his wife, five children, two grandsons and his older brother Arthur.
We could all so a lot worse than to live a life like Paul Newman did, and leave such a legacy!

Ever Hear of Ethocyn ?
What Ethocyn does is it promotes the production of Elastin. Elastin is what gives youthful skin it bounce back quality. On Dr. Burnison's website Ethocyn.com it says that treatments with this product can take a man or woman's skin (between 40 -70 years) and restore their Elastin fiber content to that of a 20 year old,,, WOW! It says that after only 8 weeks of twice a day application, that there is an average 100% improvement in the patient's skin.
Dr. Burnison's company has the tests to prove it. What is even better is that they have a challenge, called the Ethocyn Biopsy Proof Campaign where you can go to a participating dermatologist and get a test before and after use of Ethocyn and have that doctor verify the results for you. You would have your own clinical proof, now that is unique. The company even gives you the 60 day supply of this serum for free......They must be pretty sure of the results!
Debating the Debate
It is usually funny to watch the news after an event like a debate. You can tell how a particular channel "leans" by watching their coverage. Each person will be the winner depending on which channel you watch. Are you a CNN, MSN, FOX follower? I want to see the Palin and Biden debate.
I guess it does not really matter until November when this historic political battle plays out. It should be interesting either way.
HUGAMONKEY I Love That Name
I had his baby carrier type car seat with me of course, but it would not be good to leave him in that for very long. I kept having to do things one handed and then when I had to do something where I absolutely needed both hands someone else would hold him for me, but he would cry most of the time. I would complete whatever task it was as quickly as possible, and then back in my arms he would go. Luckily preschool only lasts 3 hours.
I was thinking it would have been great to have one of those baby slings like they have at HugaMonkey.com. I went to their site to check it out, it sure looks like one of those baby slings would have come in handy the other day. They have a couple of different options, including an organic one, I never thought of that idea.
My mom and I have always joked that when you get pregnant you should sprout an extra arm or two,....LOL , since that is not possible I guess a baby sling is a better option!
I guess it wouldn't hurt to try one out since the site says that they have what they call a 100% LOVE IT OR RETURN IT GUARANTEE, they don't even charge you for returns,,,awesome.
Hair Update
I almost forgot to update you all on my hair saga. The perm finally calmed down, and the highlights have too. I do not look like Weird Al anymore lol. Now it doesn't look this nice everyday, but at least I have the option when I actually get the chance to mess with my hair.
At least it looks better than it did in the first post LOL!

Cryogenic Cord Preservation
I found this site Cryo-Cell that handles Cord Blood Preservation. They really try and help a family make it possible to do this miraculous procedure. I wish I had known about them when I was pregnant. You can go to their site to learn more about the pricing and financing options or even their current special offers. There is even a LIVE chat button on the site to talk straight to a representative.
It seems kinds of expensive, but like they say on their site, it is an investment, but it still costs less than many families spend on their child's nursery. Plus, storage fees after the first year are less than $3/week. Many people spend more than that a week on coffee!
Gay Aiken?
I do not understand why any celebrity bothers to keep it a secret anymore. There does not seem to be the stigma attached to it that there once was. I mean maybe if you are the modern version of Rock Hudson and you are suppose to be a ladies man and all that, maybe it still hurts your image. Then again, there are still people who do NOT believe Clay Aiken is gay so people will believe whatever they want to believe.
There are plenty of gay male celebrities that I enjoy looking at such as Neil Patrick Harris,
or Rupert Everett
YUM!It is not like I heard they were gay and thought,, "Oh there goes my chance to date him", like we would ever meet anyway LOL!
What do you all think? Do you care anymore whether a celebrity is gay or not? What I care about is their attitude. There has been talk about whether Tom Cruise is gay or not,,, he is annoying either way!

Maybe the FED Should Go to Credit Counseling
I am glad to hear that some of the companies involved are being investigated by the FBI. It is ridiculous that these CEOs get multimillion dollars severance packages even when their companies are headed for disaster. Who in the real world gets a bonus for doing a BAD job? We would get fired, not a bonus.....that kills me.
My husband and I could use a bail out. We are trying to get him through college, and have the student loans to prove it! We are also trying to sell our house, could we have picked a better time in resent history to try and sell a house? We were hoping that we would at least make a little bit of money on the sale of our house and put that on to the student loans.
I don’t know what is going to happen if the economy gets worse, I did not think it was possible for that to happen, but it looks like it might. We might have to look into credit counseling. It has always been important to us to keep my husband’s credit in top notch shape, especially since mine was not the best when we got married. I once considered debt consolidation before I got married but I never ended up doing it.
I know there is a site called www.careonecredit.com that sounds interesting. It says they offer 24/7 access to your account, electronic payments, and they personalize their support and counseling services to fit your situation. I know I like it when I can do things online when I have the time, which is usually in the wee hours of the morning.
I don’t know, I hope the Fed gets all this sorted out and the economy takes an upturn..but it is nice to know there is help out there if I need it!

When You Want to Say Just the Right Thing
Sometime you know what you want to say, but are not sure HOW you want to say it, or what if you never learned the right thing to say in the first place? I found this really great called Letter Whiz. LetterWhiz letter templates cover a wide range of topics and situations such as BUSINESS, LOVE, EDUCATION, CAREER, and PERSONAL. You can copy and paste example letters into your favorite word processing program for situations ranging from simple thank you letters to medical record requests and so many topics in between! There is even a section for quotes that you can add to a letter you are writing.
The best part is that this is all FREE!

Geese on Parade
I have not had time to figure out how to edit this, but I thought it was cute and wanted to share it. There is this flock of geese in our neighborhood. They hang out around the neighbors pond most of the day, and then around 6:30 - 7:00 pm they start walking up our side yard, and then up the street. They are heading to the field across the street from our house. I have not idea why they do not just fly over there.
I have tried a couple different times to get a good clip of this on my camera, but something always gets in the way. Usually it is my kids "trying to be quiet" while they wait with me to watch the geese. Anyway the camera work kind of stinks, but I think it is cute. Enjoy :o)

I Want to Go to Georgia
I would love to take him to this festival they are having in Georgia. It is called the WOODBINE CRAWFISH FESTIVAL in Woodbine, Georgia on the banks of the Satilla River . This year's festival is scheduled for: Friday Night, April 25, 2008 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm and Saturday, April 26, 2008 from 8:00am - 6:30pm
It sounds like it would be awesome. We could even take the kids, since it says they are going to have something for the whole family to enjoy, like games and face painting for the kids, live bands, and a great arts and crafts festival. It also says that they are going to have plenty of other kinds of food if you want more than crawfish. Fried Chicken, barbecue, homemade desserts....wow are we there yet?! You can Explore More Now!
I went to the website and it says that they even have what they call Super Saturday, which is a community wide yard sale. I found this video of last years festival on youtube too, looks like fun.

High Fructose Corn Syrup
This kind of half truth marketing kills me. While I do agree that almost anything is ok in moderation, they try and imply that HFCS is just like sugar, which it is not. Well it is made from corn, so doesn't that make it a vegetable? I wish that was the case, but it most certainly is NOT!
When you consume regular sugar, your body can eventually tell you that it has had enough. High Fructose Corn Syrup on the other hand does just the opposite. It messes with the hormones that regulate our feelings of hunger and fullness. It can even make you feel MORE hungry. That is one of the reasons that snacking adds to more snacking. You can read more about it at one of my favorite sites RealAge.com. It is headed by Doctors Roizen and Oz of the popular YOU on a Diet series of books. I love their books and information. They can clear up the confusion that this commercial tried to create.
Stressed for Success
Some companies are even hiring motivational keynote speakers to address their workers and teach them how to handle stress better. The Stress Institute was founded by Dr. Kathleen Hall back in 1995 and has been growing in popularity ever since. There are a lot of interesting resources on StressInstitute.com. Not only can you locate a speaker, but you can pick up stress management tips, learn the effects of stress and even shop. I know shopping makes me feel better! LOL!
So Palin has a Tan,,, SO WHAT!
I imagine many people own tanning beds in Alaska. I have heard that tanning parlors are very popular up there because of the many months of darkness which leads to Seasonal Affective Disorder,, or SAD... and that is what this is SAD!
My parents have a tanning bed in their basement. They got it when my uncle closed a store he owned. It only cost them a few hundred dollars. I do not know what Sarah Palin makes, but the media has used the phrase six figure income before. If she can not afford a 500 - 1000 dollars item for herself, then who can? The governor before her thought it was important to have a private jet. Governor Palin saw this as a waste of her tax payers' money and had the jet sold.... but OMG she owns a tanning bed.
Get real people!

The "KEYS" to a Musical Future
My mom got an old upright piano for her front room so that all the grand kids would be exposed to music and feel free to play around with it. I was wondering what it would cost to get it tuned and maybe restored one day. I found this awesome company Lindeblad Piano. Not only do they restore pianos, they also do piano moving and sell pianos and accessories including refurbished Steinways. They have a really cool multimedia tour of several different restorations on their site. The company has been around for four generations, so they must be doing something right!
I can just imagine her eyes if I were to get her a baby grand piano someday. I hope she retains this love of music, I know we are going to do everything we can to help her pursue it. We may not start out with the baby grand, but one day who knows?

Which Way to Weight Loss?
I have of thought about getting bariatric surgery someday to help, but I don't know. Now days there are quite a few options when it comes to weightloss surgery. The one I was looking into is called lap band surgery. I wanted to learn more about this type of surgery and I found this site that sounds really interesting. You can go to this site to find a lap-band surgeon. They even have a body mass calculator at Journeylite.com if you were wondering where you are on the body mass index.
Shoo Flea, Don't Bother Me
This poor dog has been that worst dog I have had for fleas. She is light beige so I think the fleas love her coat. I can't think of anything else because I have had other types and colors of dogs and they were not nearly as bad. I use to use one of the regular spot treatments to stay on top of the situation, but I have gotten a little out of the habit. Before this summer she had not really gotten any. I think we lucked out with the weather the last two summers.
Then earlier this year we tried a natural version of a spot treatment. It smelled great, like cloves at Christmas, but I am not sure it did any good. Now all of the sudden she has a whole flea circus going on, so I am ready to go back to the high test stuff. I guess I will just have to go back to keeping her away from the kids for a couple of days after I put it on.
What do you like to use for fleas? Be it on your pet or in the house? Boy I must seem like a bug farmer after this and my spider post.
I would really like to try one of those flea traps. Have you ever seen those? They are a UV light like an outdoor bug zapper, but they sit on the floor and have a sticking pad in it like a bug strip. I guess the bugs are drawn to the light at night and they stick to the pad. I would love to see if it works, but I am such a germaphobe that if it really worked I might not be able to sleep until I ran out of bugs to catch LOL!
Cool New Sports Fan Site
It is called Sportsviews. It is an awesome social network site for sports fans of all types, I mean ALL types. They have everything from football, baseball, golf, even Mixed Martial Arts and Ultimate Fighting! Oh man wait until I tell my husband and his brother. I can just hear the keyboard clicking away as they debate Georgia and Alabama or the fights!
It seems really neat. It is free to sign up and they even give you 50,000 free SV dollars, which is the currency of the site. There is no monetary value to SV dollars, but you can use them to buy players, build teams, all sorts of things. You can even make your own sports blog and upload pictures.
You should see some of the clips in the videos section. Oh man, they have some great hockey clips. I have not been to a hockey game in ages. If I had a video of myself when I got hit in the head with a hockey puck I bet I could upload that to Sportsviews LOL. Let's see, do they have a blooper section? Yep they do! I love sports bloopers don't you? Check them out!

If Sarah Palin Was a Man
In case no one is paying attention Governor Palin has a husband, older kids, and many other family members that appear more than willing to help her grasp this awesome opportunity that she has been given.
Then there is the situation with Palin's daughter Bristol. Are people really blaming Sarah Palin for the actions of her daughter? This just boggles my mind. I do not care how you raise your kids or how close you are to them, they are their own people. People make mistakes plain and simple. Would the country rather Mrs. Palin turn her back on her daughter? Instead she is doing what any good parent does, she is loving her daughter. I imagine this was not what the Palins had hoped for their daughter in terms of timing, but now what matters is being there for their daughter through this time. How hard must it be to be thrust in the lime light, especially now.
How many people do you know that have accomplished what Sarah Palin has? She is a wife, a mother, a governor, and possibly the next vice president of our country. She also just had a baby 4 months ago that has downs syndrome, she has a son headed to Iraq, and she has been given this great chance to make history and help shape our nation. Sarah Palin has handled all of this will style and grace. If that does not paint the picture of someone with the courage to help lead this country, I do not know what people are looking for.

Eight Legged Invader
OK,
I need your help out there....Does anyone know what kind of spider this is?
I know it is not the most clear picture, but it is the best I could get. It is a tiny little guy, maybe I should have measured it, but it is probably less than a quarter inch with the legs, but a little longer if you stretch it out.
I keep finding these and I want to know if they are dangerous. I have been gathering all sorts of natural stuff that is suppose to deter spiders, but I do not yet know what works for sure.
I want to use natural stuff because I do not want to poison my kids of course LOL!
Does anyone know what this is? What kinds of tricks do you use to get rid of pests around your house or property? The more natural the better. I am getting ready to try cotton balls soaked in peppermint.
I am going to tuck those into the corners of the rooms behind furniture etc. The other thing I heard is that they do not like lavender, so I was thinking of making some pantyhose sachets filled with some sort of lavender. Do you have any ideas?

Lumpy Coffee Creamer is Better Than NO Coffee Creamer!
Well evidently they look enough alike, when you have had NO sleep the night before, that they are easily confused. I finally got the chance to get myself some breakfast one morning. I filled a bowl with cereal, then reached into the fridge, grabbed "the milk" and poured away! Gee this milk seems oddly thick....OH WAIT, you picked up the coffee creamer you idiot! OH NO, that was the LAST of the coffee creamer! PANIC!
When you have had very little sleep., and coffee is your lifeline, you get desperate. Well the bowl was clean and the cereal was fresh, so what else was there to do but get out the gravy strainer? I strained most of the cereal out of the creamer and poured the creamer back into the carton. There may be a few lumps,,but since i know what they are I will be ok. I don't think Special K can change the taste of your coffee...lol
As it turns out, there was no more milk, but at least I can still have a cup of coffee! Aaaaah!

Houma on My Mind
I had never heard of Houma before this trip, and now we hear they are in danger once again. My husband is thinking of all the nice people he met while he was down there, and hoping they are weathering this storm safely. For all the people that he met, and all the people we will never meet, you are in our prayers.
BE SAFE!
