No New Year Resolutions

No ! I am not going to make any New Year resolutions this year.
How often to we say we are going to...whatever...and do not keep those promises either to our self or to others.
All it does is depress you in the end.
A resolution is supposed to be something to make the New Year better not sadder.
So what I will do is just take each day as it comes and try to make each and everyone better.
I think I will be much happier that way.
Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL !

Inside Out

When you look at someone from the outside appearance, they may seem to be healthy.
But since we do not have XRay vision, you can not see what is going on inside.
Your digestive tract is so very important to your everyday health and a lot of people do not even give it a second thought.
Your colon system works on a gravity and weight, rhythm flow and when food is trapped in it and not flowing properly, you build up toxins in your system.
The waste your body produces is meant to leave the body not stay and ferment in to god only knows what.
You could be poisoning yourself and not even know it.
You are supposed to drink plenty of water each day and I know for fact that most of don't.
We eat unhealthy foods and expect our digestive system to just handle it.
You get constipated and think, oh I will just take a laxative or the likes, I won't get into all that !
But it is not good for you.
What you really need to use is a Colon Cleanser that is made with natural products.
There is a colon cleanser on the market that is actually a dual stage cleaner and it works wonders.
It Is made of natural ingredients that is compatible with just about any one's body.
All the natural ingredients they put in this system, I do not think you could eat all those foods in a day...it is packed with antioxidants, herbs, all natural items that totally detoxify your system.
You will find in using this product you will have no more bloating, feel more energy, have healthier hair and much, much nicer skin...because all the junk is out of you.
Once you use colon cleanse you will not believe the difference in how you feel.
I know for fact because some of my family members and myself have used it.

Sputter Sputter

Why is that you check your vehicle over extra good for everything before you go on vacation and it never fails...something goes SPUTTER SPUTTER !
Why ?
It's Murphy's Law...Who The Heck Is Murphy and Why Is He Not Out Here Fixing My Van !?
Cross your fingers we should be back home in a couple of days.
And this is our Happy Holiday !

Did You Remember To Breathe ?

Did you remember to breathe ? Sound a bit odd ?
There are people who's bodies quit breathing at times when they are sleeping.
This is very dangerous. You could die !
This disorder is called sleep apnea and millions of people suffer from it.
There are tests for this disorder to see if you suffer from it. There are sleep disorder centers all over and most hospitals have a unit for this type of testing.
Usually the person that suffers from sleep apnea don't know it unless the sleep partner makes them aware of it. When the apnea happens the person wakes up for a few minutes then goes back to sleep and normally does not even remember the incident(s). This leads to sleep deprivation and that leads to personality changes.
When you don't breathe, your oxygen to your body is reduced and depending on how long say maybe up to 10 seconds you wake up, longer than that your heart gets the message to work harder because your brain needs more O2 to function. This can cause HBP or stroke or cause your heart to strain and get lesions or a heart attack.
People who are over weight, have airway obstructions, could be from tonsils or adenoids being too large from infection or GERD inflammation or even asthma, snorers are all candidates for sleep apnea.
Sleep deprivation, night sweats, headaches upon awakening, weight gain, memory loss or difficulty learning, depression and High Blood Pressure are all signs of sleep apnea.
If you suspect this is present, you owe it to yourself and your family to go get tested.
The testing only takes one night usually and all you have to do is sleep !
It doesn't get any easier than that to save your life.
Now, take a deep breath and relax.

Cleaning up the mess

OK, the jolly old fat made made his visit.
Now I get to clean up the mess he made with the cookies and milk and all the cardboard from the toys and wrapping paper mess.
It was a bunch of fun though to watch the kids faces when they ripped open their presents that Santa left for them.
We all had a great and happy Christmas Day...We hope you all had a Very Merry Christmas too.
Now I think I will sit back and enjoy a nice hot cup of tea and plan my New Year's Resolutions.
Thanks for stopping by today

Best Dressed

When you are in need of professional services for emergencies you would probably call 911.
When they personally respond to your emergency, it is important that they are dressed for the call. First impressions are important.
As soon as they are on the scene and you make visual contact with them, you are already on the road to sanity. You feel a sense of relief instantly.
I like the fact that each sector of the community help forces are identifiable by their group uniforms.
It is important that they are dressed for appropriate weather so they don't get over heated or frostbitten. They would need to have short or long sleeved shirts, jackets, sweat shirts, hoodies or jackets depending on the temperatures, or boots if it's raining or snowing out.
There are stores that sell officials uniforms, equipment and gear, but they have to make sure they are getting quality when they buy.
For example, 5.11 EMS Fire Shirts sells top quality merchandise and they offer many, many bonuses like free hats, buy two get one free and free shipping on specials and they can ship around the world not just in the states, hey even free return shipping if required.
Their goods are durable, fade resistant and usually all in stock when you shop online with them.
This site also carries clothing and gear for police.
If you know anyone in these types of careers, you might want to let them know about the options they have for their uniform and gear needs.

Little Tree Train

Our family bought a train that attaches to the trunk of a Christmas tree. It has 3 cars, the engine, coal car and caboose and it choo choos and puffs smoke as it goes around the track.
The other day the caboose got broke and For the life of me I can't remember where we bought it.
If anyone knows the type I am talking about and where to get another one, please contact me.
We miss seeing all the cars go round.
Thanks
Have A Happy Holiday

Let There Be Light

When you need special lighting LEDs are the way to go.
They have lights for everything and anything now from your refrigerator/freezer to your automobile.
Tubes, strips, bulbs and even ones for those hard to get in angle places.
The come in just about any color you could want or need and they are used not only in the home or for hobbies, they are also used in business and industries.
Whether you require standard, backlighters, Dot Matrix, for maybe computer board assembly, surface mounts, possibly a high flux type for your task.
You can get name brands like Cree or Toshiba that you are familiar and comfortable with those product lines.
Next time you open your refrigerator to see if the light is still on you might think LEDs or not...lol.
Actually I was checking out the LEDs because I saw this dressed up motor cycle that had all kinds of LEDs on it and it looked so jazzed up especially at night time, they way they applied the lighting. I know he had to get extra judging points for it in the bike show.
He had a Big City Skyline mural painted on his ferring and had all the street lights and building windows lit up, in addition to the under carriage lights that were added on.
I tried to take a picture of it, but the picture just did not do it justice.
I have also seen decked out cars and trucks that have used LEDs for special effects.
And here I thought lights just came in bulb shapes...learned a bunch at that show.
There is almost no end to what you can use LEDs for and when you shop online the company gives you other ideas of use with each category you surf to in their catalog.

Christopher Pop In

My sister-in-law introduced us to Christopher Pop In a couple of years ago...what ? never heard of him ?
It works like this, there is this little Christmas elf-like doll that perches in various parts of the house about 2 weeks before Christmas.
He is sent by Santa to watch and make sure the kids are being good.
He magically moves from place to place or room to room and they ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH HIM or the magic goes away and hey...NO GIFTS from Santa.
So it works a bit here, but all new things have to be fine tuned, a little.
Check out the story of him and you will see what he does.
But don't expect to find the whole story online, they want you to buy the book and Christopher.
I might have spelled it wrong, it may be Christopher Poppins or something like that. But in your free time you can check it out.
Happy holidays All

Shock My Endorphins !

Why is it that hubby can remember to buy you something for Christmas, but he seems to forget those important, oh so meaningful holiday gifts like your anniversary or Valentines day gifts ?
Don't they realize how much meaning those days hold and that the right gift on those days can go along way through out the year ?
You are already stressed out with everyday life and when those special days that he could say "I LOVE YOU" so easily with something that is so easy to get for you, that by the way will bring your stress levels way down, I am told...CHOCOLATE !
Yes ! I said, "CHOCOLATE"!
It is said to perk up your "Feel Good" endorphins, by some medical people somewhere OK!
Now to the important things, Chocolate, chocolate, Gertrude Hawk Chocolate, as a matter of fact.
Her shop has the most scrumptious, gourmet chocolates I have ever tasted.
The candy store is only like a 2 hour drive from here if he really wanted to make me happy, he would go get it TODAY !
Gertrude Hawk Chocolates is located in Dunmore, which is a suburb of Scranton, PA., and just about anyone can find Scranton, for goodness sake.
And believe you me, Gertrude knows her chocolates.
She started working in a candy shop when she was 12 years old and then in 1936 decided to make her own molded gourmet candies and I am s glad she did...YUMMY !
Gertrude is dedicated to creating the most delicious treats, like peanut butter, caramel, raspberry, mint and in lots of shapes and colors. Why she even makes chocolate ice cream cones.
Bet they sell a lot more ice cream now with those gourmet cones.
If hubby can't figure out which treat to buy me they have Smidgen Baskets already packaged or if he really knows me, he could build a gourmet package for me. Ah, well, maybe that is asking a little much of him.
But he definitely needs to go get me Gertrude Hawk Chocolates or order them online and have them sent STAT, as the doctor would say. I need them for medicinal purposes as I feel a grouch coming on.
So many shapes, sizes, colors and aromas...Yummmmm !

Tear Jerker Movies

I let my girls pick out a couple of movies at the library the other day. One of the ones that they picked was "The Fox and The Hound". I hesitated, because this movie can make ME cry, but I let them get it anyway. We are watching it now, but luckily they are not concentrating on it 100% so they aren't getting to wrapped up.

My oldest daughter cried horribly at the end of Beauty and The Beast because to her it was sad that the Beast "disappeared". We tried to explain to her that it was a happy thing, but to her it was not. She sobbed and sobbed for at least 15 minutes. Oh my, then there was the time we watched The Last Mimsy. This was a full concentration, lights off cuddle on the floor movie night. The girls had paid attention to almost every minute of this film....the ending made them cry.

They have parental warning stickers on movies for violence or language or whatever. They should also have a warning that says,,, "may lead to crying toddlers and sleepless nights"

Of course I am the type of person that cries at greeting card commercials, and my hubby get the sentiment in movies too, so our kids didn't have much of a chance. Luckily my hubby and I went to see The Bridge to Terabithia without the kids first. We were both messed up from that movie, and you could hear at least half the theater ( which had more adults that kids in it) trying to quietly sniff back snot and tears. It is the kind of movie that makes you want to go home and hug your kids. We were so glad we saw it first, because we almost took our nephew and daughter to it,,,that would have been toooooo sad for me.

What is your favorite tear jerker, be it kids movie, or adult,,,well not ADULT movie,, but you know what I mean. I cannot think off the top of my head which is my favorite of all time, but I will list some good ones to get your thoughts rolling....

Fried Green Tomatoes

Beaches

Steel Magnolias

Life as a House

A Walk in the Clouds

And not just chick flicks either, I do watch others lol...

Black Hawk Down

Saving Private Ryan

The war movie with Jamie Fox? umm hmm?

Well you get the idea lol

Tough Times Ahead

This has been one rough year as far as business goes.
Monies are tight everywhere, as you might have been reading about.
It is no different for me owning a retail business.
I find fewer people have cold, hard cash to work with in these economic times as such as they are, so most carry credit cards or debit cards.
I really would rather work on a cash basis, but I have to go with the flow of the people and what they want.
So my business has to subscribe to the credit card processing method in order to survive.
I have kept my head above water so far, but I can see tough times ahead still.
Some will and can buy if it is on credit and can pay back a little each month but they can
wouldn't or couldn't buy if it had to be in full by cash.
I need to make the changes necessary to survive but it is not a snap decision just to go get a credit card machine.
After all there is costs to me involved like face to face transaction fees, I want them to be low and I do not want a company with an annual fee on top of other fees in daily transactions.
Also do not want a cancellation fee if I decide to go with another company.
Free terminal placement is nice, phone and internet ordering, hey how about first month free to make sure I like this company ?!
Low monthly rental fees, wow so much I have to do to make it easy on us all.
This better be worth it.
Oh this is interesting, this place called OnlineCheck.com, has loans too.
Hmmm...no collateral, bad credit ok, low payments, I will check into this too.
Seems like this company has some of several areas of business monies of interest to me.
I will have to check them out for sure.

I'm Dreaming of a Warm Christmas

My hubby and I were talking about making plans for the holidays. Our current wish list of plans would include being able to visit some of our out of state family. We don't know if this will happen this year or not, but we would really like to.

Most of my husband's family has not even gotten to meet our newest addition,, our 9 month old boy. We managed to get our other two kids down there (Florida via the Carolinas) when they were small, and I hope we can do the same for our son.

We also have some family in Michigan we would like to see,,,see of course there are people dotted all over the country that we miss. ugh... why are the holidays so hard. If you go here you miss those people, if you go there you miss the other people. I wish I had enough money to get everyone in the same place at the same time.

The only thing I don't like about going south for the holidays is that they feel a little off with out the cold and snow. What do you think? Do you prefer warm or cold for the holidays?

Caffeine is Bad for Your Computer

Well, not caffeine really, but coffee sure is. As is liquid that could pour into your keyboard and fry all those delicate mysterious little circuits that live in there. We got so lucky twice this week. My mom had her laptop in the front room and my youngest was toddling around the room. How kids can spot it as soon as you take your eye off a cup or other object they are not suppose to have I will never know.

As fate would have it once to her, and once to me again today my little bugger grabbed a coffee cup that was sitting near the computer and started to carry it off. Both times the coffee missed the computer. I can not believe we got that lucky!

I told myself after today that I was not going to drink around mom's computer again, but that is a hard thing to stick to. Can I blog without caffeine? I might get my blogger club card revoked...lol Don't tell my friend Pam anybody shhh lol.

Maybe I will start putting my coffee in a sippy cup LOL, at least if he gets a hold of that I will have a fighting chance.

Mrs. Obama's Mama

I just read a head line about the Obama family and now I can not find it to read the rest of the article. I think they were talking about the possibility of the soon to be new first lady's mother moving in to the White House with the first family.

I never thought about this as a possibility, but I don't really see anything wrong with it, do you? I guess it would be weird if someone moved their whole extended family into the White House with them, but one grandma isn't too much to ask is it?

I do not know enough about history to know the family make up of each first family. Would this be the first mother in law to move in? Was she living with them before? If not, I wonder why they would do so now. Maybe just the experience of living on Pennsylvania Avenue.

It is kind of funny to think of the most powerful family in America possible having the conflict of the on site in laws. I wonder if they get along well, or if they have a sitcom bickersons type relationship..lol that would be kind of funny.

What do you think... should the White House have and occupancy limit?

Tis Tax Time Again

That time of year is fast approaching. You have to go through your files, or shoe boxes of receipts...LOL. Try and find all the important documents and at least get them in a reasonable order so that you can have your taxes done.

We try and get our stuff in to the tax guy as soon as possible so that we can get our refund as soon as possible of course. When it comes to tax planning and compliance I like to take my stuff to a professional. I know there are all sorts of do it yourself kits and online software but it makes me a nervous wreck to even think about it.

Do you do your own taxes? My dad has had his own business most of my life and my mom usually gets to do the rounding up of the paperwork. They almost always end up bickering about it. I told her a hundred times that she should take all the paperwork to a CPA or tax guy and let them do all the work. I think it would only take one year of Dad having to pay for someone else to do the whole task and he would be more appreciative the next year.

There are professionals and specialists in many areas for a reason. They do what would take me weeks in much less time, so why would I want to do it myself anyway?

What A Unique Glass Recyling Idea !

Suncatchers ! That is what is being manufactured in Ohio with recycled glass bottles. Glass ReFactory in Appalachia melts glass, then stamps it with a design. This glass melting company in Georgetown is one of the few places in the world that melts beer and wine bottles.

Once melted the molten glass is set in a circular mold and then a design is stamped into it.
They are called sun or light catchers. This is a great idea. Now they will be kept longer as a souvenir and not just thrown out as trash. Truly, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

I love arts and crafts to begin with and I would love to learn how to o stained glass work someday. The idea of recycling or purposing something into a craft is even more appealing. I would like to find one of those nice rectangular panels that hang from a chain for my mom's picture window. I think it would really look awesome with the morning light.

Where oh Where is My Dan

I was looking around the internet trying to find an old friend of my named Dan. I thought that it would be a fairly easy task since his name is Dan P Neumeister I could not believe how many Dan Neumeisters there are in the world LOL.

I cam across this interesting blog in the process though, by one of the other Dan Neumeisters. He is the former Senior VP and CEO for Enloe Health systems. He now lives in Chico, California and started his blog to give his opinion and insights on the health care industry. I imagine he has a unique view from deep inside the workings of the hospitals themselves.

He wrote this one post that really made me think, about a prevalent theory on why it takes so long in the ER. It says that some people think it is because the hospitals want to keep some beds empty in case "paying" customers come in. WOW, I never thought of that possibility. Be Mr. Neumeister says that he does not think that this is true. He has been in the health care industry for over 27 years, so he must know more about it than I do, but it does make you think.

I live only 5 or 6 blocks from a hospital in my city and I drive 15-20 minutes away when I need to go to an ER because the one near me is so badly managed. It is very frustrating to be ill and get ignored for hours in a waiting room somewhere. I took my husband to an ER we had never been to before the other day and someone greeted us right away, made sure we knew where the paperwork was etc, We almost didn't know what to do with ourselves lol.

So anyway Dan, I may not find you before the holidays, but know you are thought of at this special time of year and always.

You Don't Own A Babysitter

I was just reading an article where the trust was broken between two friends.

The first had a babysitter she had been using for some time and for some reason her friend needed the sitters services, she said just one time, and as it turns out the friend has used the sitter more than once and when the original person needed her she was unavailable...because she had already promised her "friend" she would sit for her the night that was needed.

Come to find out also that the borrower pays better than the first and can you guess which person is going to get priority on the sitter ? I think it was a little shaky how the whole thing came about, but money still talks and in this case, the friendship walked.

I don't know how I would have handled this situation if it happened to me, but I can tell you now I am a little upset with the problem that just arose between the friends. It goes back to the saying, "you have many acquaintances and few friends".

Now I see what is meant by that statement.

Changing Times in The Workplace

My girlfriends and I were just talking last night about the economy, and the job market. We have all been going through some rough times in our own lives. One of my good friends just found out they are not going to have a job after the new year or so.

Then there is all the shake ups at these big corporations like Ford, GM, the big banks. We were all talking about how one of the few things that can help you maintain your job or get a new one faster is through education. We like to recommend books and research sites to each other.

My one friend is in upper management and on track to be VP. They recommended I read books by Dennis Carey. This guy has done recruitment for major companies like Tyco, 3M and the like. He must know a thing or two about how to handle yourself in management. So if that is your field of work, or where you aspire to be one day check him out. Education is the best defense to being outsourced, so learn all you can while you can!

Walmart Worker's Family May Get Justice

Did you hear about that worker at Walmart that was trampled to death on Black Friday? It is so sad, and such a waste. Have we really gotten so greedy that we will kill for a bargain?

Anyway, I was happy to hear on tv tonight that they are looking at security videos to try and identify some of the people that ran over this poor man and injured other workers who tried to help him. I think any one they can tell knew they were stepping on a person should go to jail. I think anyone that they can prove was there that day should get probation of some sort. Even if they did not "know", they would think twice the next time.

What makes it even more sick, is that some people kept shopping after Walmart announced that the store was closing due to the death. Anyone that they can find through charge slips or whatever should be charged with something also,,,that is just sick!

I also think that Walmart should have shut the registers OFF and not made any sales once that happened. I do not care if they were already in line etc etc etc. It does not matter. Maybe they will give whatever money they made that day to the victims' families? Doubt it, but it would be a start.

Giving GIft Cards This Year?

For many years gift cards have become more and more popular as holiday gifts. This is the first year I have heard some talk of people being nervous to buy them. I can understand they apprehension, because I know as well as anyone else that the economy is shaky and there are companies closing left and right.

I was reading on the net that Blackhawk Network ,which is the largest third party distributor of gift cards, had a big research study done and the results said that 70 percent of people still thought gift card were a useful gift. And another major study said that over half of the people surveyed would like to get gift cards as presents. Blackhawk Network is the creator of the
Gift Card Mall™ so I imagine they keep a close eye on the feelings of the consumer on this matter. That makes me feel a little better about giving and getting gift cards this year.

There are still plenty of companies that are going to be around. I don't think they will ever go out of fashion really. They are one size fits all, always the right color, easy to mail, fun to use. What could beat a combination like that?
