More on Genealogy

I am still pushing forward trying to find my husband's ancestors. It does not help that there are about 25 ways that his last name has been distorted over the years..ugh.

If you are interested in genealogy at you probably heard about sites that you have to pay to use like Ancestry.com. Even Ancestry does have some resources that you can use for free, but you have to buy a membership to review everything on the site. It is not a bad deal, but if you just don't have any extra funds there are many free sites that you can get genealogical information from. I think I might start putting together a list of some of my favorite sites to use. If I manage to get one together I will post it here for you.

One free site that I use quite frequently is Familysearch.org. I like the search engine on that site. They give you a lot of options for searching. I can even search by first name only, you have to search through more records this way but when you are not sure of last name spelling errors sometimes it is the only way to search.

Good luck on your name searches.
I know it can be a huge challange especially when there are so many spellings of a name and the changes that were made over a matter of time.
